The Eagles (3-3) hosted the Fighting Clan of Vineland (1-2-2) yesterday. The Fighting Clan pulled an upset win over the Eagles with a final score of 2-0, giving the Eagles their third straight loss.
The game started wtih a strong defensive performance early in the first half, but the Eagles allowed a goal and were unable to capitalize on key offensive possessions that could've changed the outcome of the game. In total, the Eagles out-shot the Fighting Clan 20 to 3, but it just wasn't their day.
Senior captain Julianny Bados said after the upset loss, “It's a learning experience and we will not give up as we still have an eye on the CAL Tournament and the Group 4 Championship. I gotta give credit to coach Carlos who is giving us a lot of hope and making us better everyday.”
The boys will have five days to recover and reset as they will host Lenape on Saturday at 12pm for the EHT Pride festival. Despite the recent form, the Eagles should bounce back now that they are expected to be at full strength heading into the game against Lenape. The boys soccer team is still in second place in the American Division, sitting behind Saint Augustine Prep. The Eagles still have a bright season ahead and many more games to play.
